World Music Day 2016 - Sunday 26th June - 10am onwards

Sunday morning, 26th June, 10-12am

We will create a special “Morning mood” for you with famous numbers from Western Classical as J.S. Bach to Pop, Bulgarian Folk music, Jazz, Film melodies to Musical Theatre...showcasing the many colours and genres of music. Featuring a number of Hyderabad and international musicians/singers.

-          Ritu Gopal (violin) & Joe Koster (piano) Both musicans are part of the HWMF Academy’s faculty and Joe heads the HWMF. Ritu and Joe will open the celebration of World Music Day with the famous melody “Morning Mood”, a classical composition by Edvard Grieg.

-          Violin-Quartet: Tania, Niki, Ritu & Vrishank are part of the Hyderabad Youth Ensemble and Indian National Youth Orchestra. They will play G.F. Telemann’s Concerto for 4 violins in D-major.

-          Bharathi & the Silent Voices (Bulgarian Folk Music)

Singers: Bharathi, Aila, Haritha, Alekhya, Asha Kiran, Riti, Sana, Sindhura

Bharathi Palivela is a Carnatic musician and a graduate of the Berklee college of music, Boston. Bharathi was one of the lead vocalist in the World music band, Indian ensemble, Improvisation and Middle Eastern ensemble at Berklee.

-          Saachi & Sarika Chennur (violin/vocal) will be playing/singing two numbers from the world of Pop and from Musical Theatre. Saachi received enthusiastic applause during last years’ World Music Day.

-          Crossroad – Tania & Niki Shukla and Divya will be performing: Breakeven by The Script, Crazy In Love by Beyoncé and Crazy by Gnarls Barkley. Crossroad are: two sisters from England and two sisters from America who moved to Hyderabad almost 4 years ago and coincidentally met at the same time, hence the name Crossroad. They have been performing together since then and enjoy playing acoustic covers with a profusion of harmonies. Crossroad is currently one member short as Divya’s sister is now in Mumbai pursuing music.

-          Saxophone Duet: George Hull & Noah, accompanied by Joe Koster on keys, will change the mood from Classical to Swing. George Hull is also part of the HWMF Academy faculty and teaches woodwinds. Noah is one of his talented students.

Special guest: Mélanie LeBlanc (vocal). Mélanie is a professional singer from Canada and presently the vocalist/pianist at The Park Hyatt, Banjara Hills.

The Hyderabad Youth Ensemble is primarily comprised of young musicians who play string, wind or percussion instruments. The aim is to give local talents an opportunity to play in a larger ensemble than they may usually have the chance to. HYE’s repertoire includes works from Classical to Pop and includes pieces as diverse as J.S. Bach Suite No. 3, Forrest Gump, Mission Impossible, Pirates of the Carribean, La vie en rose.

Deccan Voices is a bunch of 15 experienced and jovial amateur musicians from varied walks of life and cultures and trained by Joe Koster. Their passion is towards singing diverse styles of choral music. Examples of their repertoire include Phantom of the Opera, Route 66, Man in the Mirror, Bohemian Rhapsody, Sir Duke, Thine be the Glory, I’m beginning to see the light.
